Q&A on Cassettes and Albums to CD or MP3

Each tape goes on its own CD. There is an 80 minute maximum time limit on CDs. If your tapes exceed that length, a second CD is required

There is no limit on the length of a digital MP3 file.

Yes. We can transfer all formats of audio including answering machine tapes and micro cassettes.

While the CD itself cannot be edited or modified, the information on it can be ripped, edited and re-encoded to another CD. We do offer this service at $65 per hour and we invite our customers to sit in on the edit session.

In most cases, purchased audio cassettes are widely available on Amazon or other music services for less than we charge for a transfer. If you have other purchased cassettes such as educational, motivational or other programs, we ask that you check with the original producer of the material to see if they offer it in a digital format. If not, we will transfer it for you.

Please allow up to 10 days to complete your project. Very large projects may take a bit longer.

Audio Cassette Tapes really came into their own in the 70’s as the perfect alternative to 8-track tapes.  Unlike the 8-track, you could easily fast forward or rewind a cassette and play it back on either side.  You also didn’t have to deal with annoying track changes and split songs.  They were smaller too.  Additionally, audio cassette recorders were (and still are) relatively inexpensive and portable.  Make no mistake, there were (and still are) high end audio cassette recorders still in use by court reporters, radio stations and news reporters. But while almost all of the music recorded on cassette tapes is readily available online, there are thousands of professional and family oriented custom recordings collecting dust in boxes and drawers just waiting to be converted to digital and shared again.  Perhaps you have recordings of war veterans telling their stories or families singing songs together.  Nothing brings back memories like hearing the voices of loved ones from years ago.
