Your film will be transferred using a direct to digital system ensuring full frame visibility! All of the work is done right here in Peru, IL. We never send it away!

Original boxes of film are 50 feet in length. Your film reels may have already been spliced together on larger reels years ago.

Refer to the chart below. You can tell how much film you have by looking at the side of the reel. There is a gauge from the center hole on the reel outward showing 50, 100, 150, 200 and so on, up to 400 feet.

Our system utilizes an edge to edge direct to digital process with comparable results to frame by frame systems. We capture the entire image. There is no cropping of any kind. There will be black bars on the sides due to the different aspect ratio of your film compared to modern widescreen devices.

As the chart above illustrates, your film is on 50, 200, 300 or 400 foot reels. One side of the reel has a numbered gauge showing the number of feet. Simply add up the feet for a total. 

It’s possible there is written information on the outside of your reel boxes or cans. Arrange them in the best chronological order possible and mark numerically. We will transfer them sequentially.

DVDs are not editable directly but it is possible to extract or “rip” them for editing on a computer. The edited video can then be burned back to DVD with no appreciable degradation. It can also be converted to MP4 at that point.

Absolutely. Your film will be returned in the same or better condition than when you brought it in.

In most cases no. Exceptions are extremely damaged film that requires numerous splices, cleaning or undoing reverse winding.
